Translation:Or (still another parable may be cited to depict their condition): heavy rain is falling from the sky, accompanied by pitch darkness, thunder and lightning. When they hear the thunderclap, they thrust their fingers into their ears for fear of death, but Allah is encircling the disbelievers on all sides. |
| | Al-Baqarah | Pre Ayat ← 20 | → Next Ayat | Pre Ruku ← | | 2. Lip-profession | | → Next Ruku| |
Translation:The lightning terrifies them as if it were going to snatch away their eyesight from them. When they see light, they move on a little further and When it becomes dark for them, they stand still. Had Allah so willed, He could have deprived them totally of their hearing and their sight. Most surely Allah has power over everything. |

Translation:It is He Who makes the lightning flash before you to fill you both with fear and with hope: it is He Who produces clouds laden with water. |
| | An-Noor | Pre Ayat ← 43 | → Next Ayat | Pre Ruku ← | | 6. Manifestation of Divine Power | | → Next Ruku| |
Translation:Do you not observe that Allah makes the cloud move gently then joins its pieces together: then gathers it into a mass of thick cloud: then you see that rain-drops fall down from its midst: and He sends down hail out of the high up mountains in the heaven: then He smites with it whom He wills and turns it away from whom He pleases: then a flash of lightning from it dazzles the eyes. |
| | Ar-Rum | Pre Ayat ← 24 | → Next Ayat | Pre Ruku ← | | 3. Manifestation of Divine Power in Nature | | → Next Ruku| |
Translation:And of His Signs is this that He shows you the lightning, for fear as well as for hope, and He sends down rainwater from the sky and thereby gives life to the earth after its death. Surely in this there are many Signs for those who use their common sense. |
